HEBER, Utah (Oct. 23, 2002) – BackcountryStore.com - the fastest-growing, pure-play e-commerce site for high-end, specialty outdoor gear – today announced that they have signed a lease on a new Salt Lake City, Utah warehouse that will improve and streamline BackcountryStore.com’s shipping operations.

The new 18,750 square foot warehouse, located at 3505 W. California Avenue in Salt Lake City, will more than triple BackcountryStore.com’s space, providing the company with the additional space it needs to ship the anticipated higher volume of orders.

“The new Salt Lake City location really allows us to improve our operations,” said Jeff Carter, BackcountryStore.com’s Director of Operations. “Not only is it going to allow us to ship a higher volume as we head into the holiday and ski shopping seasons - we anticipate that we will more than double our orders-per-hour – but it will allow us to do it with fewer man-hours per order.”

The new location is conveniently located near the Salt Lake City International Airport which will allow BackcountryStore.com to ship orders later in the evening. “Our new abilility to ship later in the day is huge for us because we want to get orders to customers a day earlier than they expect,” said Carter.

This is the fourth time in five years that BackcountryStore.com has had to expand their facilities due to growth. “This new space should hold us for a while…on the other hand nothing says exponential growth like needing a new warehouse, so bring it on,” said Carter.

BackcountryStore.com’s corporate headquarters remain in beautiful uptown Heber City, minutes from the Wasatch Mountains and the canyons and cols that BackcountryStore.com employees use as their gear testing grounds.
