Our
affiliate programs are looking for clean,
established, outdoor-focused, content rich, core websites to help
represent our
brands. If your application was
declined, it’s because your site didn’t meet our acceptance criteria. Below you’ll find a list of exactly what
we’re looking for in an affiliate partner.
Acceptance
Criteria
- The
Backcountry Affiliate Programs
welcome applications from all business models (coupon, loyalty, mobile
etc…), but
our ideal partner has a niche, content rich, outdoor-focused website. Our websites are successful because
we’ve
never lost sight of our goal, which is to provide core focused sites
for the
serious outdoor enthusiast (no weekend warriors). We’ve
taken that same model and applied it to
our Affiliate Programs. Of course we
accept
many other models, but you’ll need to be a premier site within your
category to
be accepted.
- In
regards to niche outdoor websites
we’re only allowing sites that focus on the core categories our sites
represent, those being ski, snowboard, camp/hike, mountain bike, road
bike,
climbing, paddle, mountaineering etc… Unfortunately
this excludes hunting, fishing,
swimming, professional sports etc… even though there may be some
crossover.
- We’re
looking for established sites
with a Google Page Rank of two or greater.
Without significant traffic on your site, success in the
affiliate
channel is next to impossible. Of course
there are exceptions, if your site looks promising but hasn’t hit our
traffic
requirements we evaluate on a case by case basis.
- A
clean, user friendly template.
- Discount
driven websites please
understand our catalog sites – Bakcountry.com, Dogfunk.com,
RealCyclist.com and
HucknRoll.com are premium, high end stores that do not compete on price. Typically we accept premier coupon/loyalty
sites to both Backcountry.com and BackcountryOutlet.com because they’re
tabbed
together, but please understand we’d like coupon sites to only promote
DepartmentsofGoods.com or BackcountryOutlet.com (unless otherwise
permitted).
- Your
site must be complete at the time
you submit your application. If it isn’t
complete you’ll automatically be declined (very few exceptions given on
this).
- Uniqueness
– Backcountry.com was built
on creativity we expect our affiliate partners to do the same. If we already have several sites with the
same look, feel and content as yours you’ll likely be declined.
- Your
site must be free of spyware,
toolbar downloads, malware and spam.
- We’re
looking for sites that exude
passion for the outdoors.
If
your site has been declined please feel free to
re-apply once the above criteria is met.
For additional questions about our policies please contact us
We’re
very serious about the philosophy of “less
is more.” We prefer partnering with fewer core affiliate sites that
meet our
strict criteria and contribute to the program on a regular basis.
We view
our partners as an extension of the Backcountry sales force and this
application process ensures our brands are represented in a positive
way.
